Miami-Dade County promises relief to Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian

This article highlights the recent tragedies that most recently occurred in the Bahamas. The article portrays the efforts that Miami-Dade are making to aid the commonwealth of the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian.
The issues highlighted in the article demonstrates the difficulties that are occurring in the Bahamas and the tragedy that the people of the Bahamas are going through.

An Ecosystem in Crisis

This article mainly pinpoints the issue South Florida has in regards to the marine ecosystems. Furthermore, it highlights the work that Daniella Levine Cava has done as commissioner and her active role in marine conservation.
In the article is states that the issues come from pollution and climate change, and how it significantly affects both the society and the ecosystem.
The problem lies in the marine wildlife ini south Florida and the people that live near the water.


Back to school Food Safety

This article specifies the dangers of food for students going back to school this year and how important it is to not undercook or over cook food.
According to the article, food that is not properly cooked and stored can accumulate bacteria that can be highly dangerous for students going back to school. With that said it is vital to be informed and to know the dangers students face in their food.
The people that are most affected by this food situation are the parents of students, that are going back to school, and the students who are put at risk of stomach viruses and complications.

The City of Coral Gables is facing an issue regarding the citizens not collecting or improperly disposing of waste produced by pets.
This article is mainly informing residents of Coral Gables of where they can dispose of pet waste. For example, when walking your dog, it is important to use bags and the proper trash cans to reduce odor in order to dispose of the waste.
The people that are directly affected by this would be residents who don’t appreciate the odor of pet waste and the parks/public areas that have to clean.


Sugar isn’t so sweet

This story highlights the struggles of obtaining foods that do not contain high amounts of sugar in local stores.

The article mentions how sugars are added quite mysteriously and located in foods that most wouldn’t expect. Foods like tomato sauces, breads, salad dressings, and protein bars are foods that contain high levels of sugar that some people might not recognize.

The people that are affected are food consumers that don’t really take the time to look into the nutritional facts of foods that are high in sugar.

  1. Hey Mauro,

    I enjoyed this post because I think you covered a good array of different issues associated with the current events worldwide. For instance, the damage in the Bahamas was definitely worth mentioning and I enjoyed reading the article from a smaller newspaper and not one covered by CNN or Fox. The only thing I think you could have improved on in this post is your structure. By organizing it into "Problems, Who, What" etc as some of our other group members did would have provided for easier flow and read. However, I think this was still a good blog post overall.
