9A- Testing the hypothesis 2


Who: After interviewing a total of ten people for this assignment. I feel that I have gotten a good understanding for the wide variety of cases that can occur on terms of preparing and worrying about the bright futures scholarship. While this issue can be paramount to some students and their families who struggle financially; to others who have a stable income or who plan on attending a local community college, this issue tends to be insignificant.

First Interview: The first person I interviewed told me that his father owned a pharmaceutical company and could ultimately afford tuition at all the colleges he wished to attend.

Second/Third Interview: My second and third interview were with aspiring high school athletes. For these two individuals, the situations is completely different. For certain athletes, school expenses are not an issue at all. Both of them come from relatively impoverished households and can afford to attend most colleges, just based on their athletic gifts.

Fourth/Fifth Interview: The fourth and fifth person I interviewed were two more high school athletes that were only eligible to receive a partial scholarship, to play football in college. For these individuals, a good SAT score that ensures Bright Futures scholarship, could go a long way. With that said, these individuals liked my idea and embraced the opportunity to receive more help on the SAT.

What: My fourth and fifth interview made me realize that a wide variety of students can seek health. Even those who are gifted athletically can seek help and improve.
   
Why: I think there is always room to improve and in order to achieve your ultimate goal, sometimes you have to go the extra mile.

Inside the boundary
Who is In: people who need scholarships to attend college.
What the Need Is: Better academic resources that prepare students better for the SAT.
Why the Need Exists: The need exists because of how much more difficult it will be to obtain Bright Futures once the new law is passed.

Outside the boundary
Who is Not: people who are financially capable of paying college tuition and expenses.
What the Need Is Not: useful to families who are financially capable or for students who have athletic
Scholarships.
Alternative Explanations: people or families would much not attend college or just attend a more affordable college.

    Hey Mauro,

    Bright futures and scholarships are definitely an important topic to discuss. There is definitely an opportunity for entrepreneurs regarding this topic. I like the idea of receiving additional help to ensure that students succeed with the SAT's. The SAT is a very important test that determines what schools a student can get accepted into and their eligibility for scholarships. I believe this is a good opportunity to capitalize on because it will also benefit society. Helping younger students prepare for their future is a great thing to do. Your opportunity has the ability to help them mentally and financially. Keep up the good work.

   In this blog post I will be responding and analyzing Christine Chin’s, ‘Cosmopolitan Sex Workers’ article, that focuses on sex workers and how there is prejudice against there profession. Personally, I can admit that prior to reading this piece I could not wrap my head around women enjoying sex work. I can relate feeling this way due to the fact that there is a negative societal stereotype in regard to women and sex work. This is displayed in media, movies, and even literature, making this topic having definite negative prejudice. 1)  Find three people who would fit that segment and arrange to interview them.  Just like last time, these interviews, if conducted properly, should take about 10-15 minutes. Any less, and you won't be able to obtain adequate information.
